AUTISM ADVENTURES CEO

Julie Simpson

Autism Adventures was created by myself and my husband as we searched for suitable play activities for our son after he was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3. Joe is now 20 and this journey has taken us on a rollercoaster of emotions from his initial diagnosis and trying to access services, to the joy of hearing his first word and cherishing every milestone that was reached irrespective of how long it took him to reach them.

Joe is our inspiration and the driving force behind everything we do.

We set up Autism Adventures out of necessity to create social opportunities for our son that were not available at the time. We have since had the pleasure of supporting over 250 families in the Liverpool area and have grown from organising days out to creating a robust offer to the Autistic community, providing after school activities, holiday clubs and workshops

Our campaign to Flag Up Autism has given us the opportunity to speak in parliament about the lack of support for our families and we are grateful to Andy Burnham, Metro Mayor of Manchester, for all his support since we meet in 2016 and we are honoured to have him as our Patron.

OUR ETHOS

Inclusion, Awareness, Accessibility

Autism Adventures was set up to support young people living with Autism to have access to

meaningful and purposeful activities that are adapted to enable them to be Autism friendly, and  to ensure young people living with Autism are able to enjoy the same level of fun activities that are available to their peers.

We deliver afterschool sessions during term time and holiday clubs during the school holidays, to ensure routine is continue when school is closed.

We provide training and workshops for parents, carers and our young people around understanding their condition and supporting them to have better mental wellness.

We also deliver training to business and organisations to ensure they are equipped to support people living with Autism who are accessing their services.
